Furball

Rooster crows after cat's meow ~
it's darkest before dawn,

for my eyes have yet to open...

Lingering for a moment,
my arm still around my love,

insistant needs stir me to life --

    ...not mine, but those of
a certain furball near my face.

Once again, I return to rest

...only to be awoken by the rooster.

Author notes

Snippet, everyday life ~

morning ritual...

I swear I don't need an alarm clock, as Tubby (the cat) wakes me consistently around 7:30am! The rooster? Lisa's mom gave me an alarm clock ~ that crows like a rooster...

hahah, warm & realistic little snippet about the crazy things that wake us up. for me, it's a really loud dumpster truck outside, every morning before 8. i love the use of the ellipses and the dashes, you pulled them off well.

    thanks for entering!

  • that little wretch! But very effective because then you might think about feeding the poor neglected little thing.

    Enjoyed your write.

I smiled at the fun in the first line, since cats are famous for eating birds...lol...Your morning ritual sounds furry, and gives a sense of feeling fuzzy headed in the morning. I liked this alot. Hope it does well in the contest. Peace, Rhonda
