You can't avoid somebody
In the small town where you live
You can't ignore the glares received
Much less the ones you give
Its hard to keep a distance
And pass silently day by day
When you have all the same friends
But you have no words to say
It seems the hardest apologies
Are the ones you'll never get
Maybe you both deserve them
But both your minds are set
As days become weeks
And weeks become months
You seem not to remember
The friends you were once
You are both embarrassed
And it'll kill you inside
But you need that apology
Just swallow your pride

so very sad when a friendship ends ... any kind of a relationship really and when we need an apology or even if we need to give one pride is involved and as you say ... it must be set aside in order for forgiveness to really take place.
