Footsteps

Missing image

Window in the mind

sees the world

from a thin and fragile shelter

where heart seals away

its darkest truths.

Fearing they will be so transparent,

exposed like a rock shattering glass.

 

Unable to stop the chills

riding up the spine,

hearing footsteps

of those holding stones,

can’t kill their sound

because they only exist

in the head.
