Sonnet IV

I need you like I need the hov’ring sun
And now that we’re apart again I see
The home I have is not the place I run
It’s you and all we are and what we’ll be
Still I must wait, content with just your voice
Imagining your face, your lips, your kiss
Your arms around me are the only choice
You are the one that I can’t bear to miss
The next year holds a life for you and I
A day-to-day of us is coming soon
Prospective moments flit in my mind’s eye
Can’t wait, at least we’re under the same moon
With summer comes a wealth of things untold
But all I want right now is you to hold

Beautiful work! The only think I'd change would be the spelling of 'bear' in the eighth line...

  • You make sonnets feel natural, something I only can very very rarely do. Good write. I really like the sound of "hov'ring sun". "Can’t wait, at least we’re under the same moon" works really well too.
