Circus Girl

Just a circus girl
all painted up and
prancing like a circus pony

Putting on the big show
every night
at the local bar and grill

False smiles
of bright cherry red
to lure the guys in

Don't want to be
the sad clown
at the end of the night

I loved this. I can really feel the sadness and the loneliness here. This poem actually reminded me of a really obscure song I know by the same name. Reminds me a lot of these particular lyrics - 'Just an ordinary woman, With the need to sing, to risk everything, Tonight'

One thing - 'lour' is misspelled. It should be 'lure'.

    Thanks for the entry!!
