I see it all the time girls fall for guys
and right off they do everything he says,
without asking her what she wants to do.
Over time the girls fall deeper and deeper
until they lose their inner self all together .
Time passes and in her mind she thinks for herself
but never voices her opinion and when she tries
it comes out all messed up and once again she is silenced.
You are a very important person,
your mind has much to say and ideas of your very own.
Never ever let any guy cut you short or make you
cower to his every thought for time will make you weak.
You begin to believe what he says
you will start just standing there with nothing to say
it is a form of brainwashing believe it it is true .
Many women have lived through this,
many women have lost themselves
and became ashamed lost to any help.
They make you feel when you
think that your are stupid,
and if you allow it then through time
you become that person.
Only to find in time they get bored with you
in time they begin to abuse you not just verbally,
but physically as well, and yet you stay and cower down.
unable to help yourself for you have lost all your self esteem.
When a guy wont let you be you
don't walk ,run from this person,
You will not be able to respect yourself
with his control, know this is true indeed.
I have seen grown women fall to this abuse,
they sweet talk you they give you gifts at first
then gradually stop letting you be you,
they want to change you.
Where you don't use your own mind,
They crave the control believe it or not.

I am fortunate that I have never loved a man like this but I too know other women who have/do.
Nothing is more irritating than asking your friend to dinner and drinks and she says she has to 'ask' her boyfriend or husband or she says he won't 'let' her.
I can't imagine being there.
I can't imagine putting someone else there.

Thats so true. I have been trying to making my sisters see this for themselves and have been fortunate if you can call it that, that I ahve been able to let them see examples in others. Both of my sisters have come to trust my judgement to help them avoid exactly what you are talking about in this poem. Great take ont he prompt Mrs Patty, good luck in the contest.
