Tors of Tears

Missing image
high rocky cliffs,
razor-edged spires
like spears into the sky,
silhouettes of silence
against the hues of midnight

heights of despair,
where bones have been shattered
on broken dreams,
buffered by winds
that shroud and shelter
bluffs of granite,
scarred deep by life

precipice of pain,
embracing eternity
for those who soar
from its heights of hopelessness

Thank you 'penman' - one of my days on thoughts of suicide......glad you found something worthwhile in it....

  • "precipice of pain". Another poem that mixes pain and suffering with beauty, though it's kind of stark.

    Enjoyed your write.

thank you so much 'Judith Chandler' - glad you enjoyed this.
I was thinking of suicide - jumping off a cliff....lol....and that pic seemed to suit my thoughts - and thoughts of how many people actually pick a place of beauty (like a tall cliff) to fly off into eternity.....

Those thoughts paint such an image of words
    They are deep and meaningful
Yet your talent for nature and its surroundings blend perfectly with fear.
I wish you all the best my friend always

Wonderful imagery combined here with such honest emotion.

    heights of despair,
    where bones have been shattered
    on broken dreams,
    buffered by winds
    that shroud and shelter
    bluffs of granite,
    scarred deep by life

The depth of your words here take my breath away. I was moved greatly by this Sis...thank you for sharing this.

  • Dark and sad indeed, yet something many of us can relate to on different levels. Powerful and brilliantly written!

  • most definitely there is a darkness throughout this piece. cliffs many things occur there, this poem is excellent . the imagery that you've created with your words is excellent.

    I really love this poem

I could almost envision peering down those cliffs, myself...We have a place here, that is similar to this piece. Some have made the jump, some weren't so lucky...Nice write, poet...

I think every area has their spot for 'lovers' leaps' or whatever......sad that we humans get to that point in our lives.

the images and the tight structure really develop the theme of " heights of hopelessness".
    hard , true thoughts.

I was thinking of suicides when I saw these pictures of the cliffs (not personally, just in general)....so, I guess that's where these thoughts came from.
