Travel to the land of the dead,
spoke with all and gain their knowledge.
Back in my body, found myself in prison.
As I wait my turn upon the electric chair,
I write down all that they told me,
every single bit of knowledge lost to mankind.
Wrapped it up good, and sent it to a friend,
with a do not open till I am dead in the corner.
As they place me in the chair, I smile to myself,
maybe one day.. mankind will understand.
Author notes
6. If you could communicate with the dead
and learn all the past wisdom that was lost,
but had to be put on death row and die
in the electric chair, would it be worth it?
I believe it would, for all knowledge is something
worth dying for, if it can help mankind.

Let me just ask...
To whom would you impart ALL this immense wealth of knowledge, and would you have time to write it down before you forgot most of it?
I admire your courage but personally, I think 'twould be in vain. I do like your poetic rendition of an impossible situation, though.

oh, not me! I'm too much of a coward. But you have put forth a great argument for this option, very cogent, and a smart solution to dying after you get all the knowledge. Enjoyed this read!

so true sissy, so true.. but question for you... could mankind handle the knowledge? and if they can't then what? I love your poem, I love you more.

Mankind could not handle all the truths in the knowledge that has been lost.. but if it was written .. maybe one day .. the humankind would be ready to face the truth.. and sissy.. I love you too..
