Washing away the grit and dirt
The tide sweeps across the shore
Flowing over little rocks and shells,
A reminder of what they had before.
We were once two souls combined
We were once planning together
We were once floating in our dreams
Now here I am, without you forever.
Like solitary seashells washed up on the beach
Stranded and dry, doomed to wait forevermore
Forsaken and abandoned by the restless sea
Forgotten by the one they live for.
So close and yet so far
Still feeling the gentle touch
The little shells crave and dread
Living no longer means much.

this is beautiful, there is so much inspiration to be found in the ocean where life began, it is so full of myth and this poem is touching in it's use of the metaphor of shells who lived joined around a creature and then were parted and washed up into a dry earth. Gorgeous write.
