Applying Biology

I remember when life was simple
or maybe I don't,
but I know that it was once simple.
It didn't matter if I was a
cytoplasm, an organelle,
the nucleus, the cell membrane,
I would say cell wall--
but I'm not a plant.

This my life I am in
right?
Correct me if I'm wrong
because lately I feel
like a cytoplasm,
instead of an organelle.

Surrounding my life
holding it all in place
but not actually a part
of any of it.
I mere observer
with limited vision.

Being a part of my life
was better
where I carried out
functions and had a
structure.
Somehow connected to
all of the other processes.
I don't care what organelle
I happened to be,
just make me one please?

God is my nucleus
but I'm beginning to wonder
how much longer I want
that to last.
Being my own nucleus
was simpler
yet impossible.

But life doesn't have
a selectively impermeable membrane
let alone a membrane.
There is little control I can
have over what goes in and out.

Soon it will become apparent
my ATP is running out,
unfourtanetly I'm not an autotroph
otherwise I would just sit here
and photosynthesize.
But my energy comes from an
alternate source
whatever that happens to be these days.

Author notes

Yes I did just compare how I feel right now to a cell

  • See, if science class was like this, I might pay attention more. lol Thanks for entering my contest and good luck!

This is quite creative and well done. I always loved science. What is really weird is I rememeber that ATP stands for adenosine Tri Phospate. Thats scary and no i didnt look it up hee hee

Leave God as the nucleus honey. It takes a bit to get used to not being in charge anymore. but the truth is you never were.

You ever see one of those Fisher Price steering wheels that you strap on a high chair or baby car seat to allow them to pretend they are driving. The can play and think they are steering the car. It is amusing to watch because despite their best efforts they are not effecting the outcome of where the car goes. The same is true when we are in "charge"

God bless you princess, I love you and I am proud of you

o.o wow, I never read anything like this. It's very interesting and I am not quite good at comparing this is really deep. Beautiful description. It's very touching. ^_^ creative writing indeed. It's so much fun. My favorite part was

    " But life doesn't have
    a selectively impermeable membrane
    let alone a membrane.
There is little control I can
have over what goes in and out."
