A Fairy Tale

1.
Out of tide,
before the storm ,
when spells are woven
through the color of rainbows --

in the spring --
life full of wild magic
great in its sense of promise,
in a hollow --  formed by wishes
found in the heart of a tree
shaped by its roots,

our fairy tasted the first
wonders of dawn, had the first
pearl of dew grace her lips,
moisten her tongue. The last
rays , morning red, left
their strawberry swirl in her hair.

2.
Life is a course. Paths where
we often hide foolishness
with the grand name of experience.

Her heart a cherry drop
full of love, she soon
learned many would love the taste,
but in their greed
be unwilling to share the joy
and sip by sip they would steal
her candied dreams.

In her naiveté, haloed
with the clear light of her  innocence,
our fiery child, wild, fierce
ready to burst
with the joy of having
life to live, often hid.

When darkness shred her warmth
dragged her crying to the sea,
she would take up the litany,
“I wasn’t teasing them.
I didn’t try to be mean.
I don’t know why
I am just not good enough at love”

3.
The gods lying in the summer clouds
heard her curse her heart, knew
she should learn that humans could
be smaller than small and petty in ways
that had nothing to do with her at all.

Fairy grown, lithe of limb, pouty lips
discovered the wonder and joy
the newly born, families formed
the dance and ritual of vows made good.

She felt the pull of the pearly orb
as she was caught in the spells and magic
formed by family love and children warm.
She felt the tug and pull on her cherry
heart. Knew she, too, had a family to start.

Out of the fog of confusion and loss
the gods smiled and found a champion
who crossed the path of our strawberry queen.
Who was blinded by love when her wonders
he had seen. She, as well, fell under the spell
of a love woven in heavens by gods and goddesses
who loved her well. Out of the casting of their love
a wondrous wedding was brought about.

Now the winds hold their breath,
the gods and goddess pray for the best
as our fairy and her fair knight of conquest
venture forth and we all pray for the best.

  • Thank You for Showing Love for Shari ~

The length of this just adds to the imagery and flow and I actually wanted it to continue ... which is rare on long writes since I lose interest quick I didn't here though

Just gorgeous, I like whole poem but the first part is my favourite I have to say

Thank You & Best of Luck
    Stay safe

It seemed the right way to present a story about her. I wanted to capture certain sides to her and this seemed to allow me the greatest reach in doing it. Plus it is always kind to give your audience a breather now and then

I tried to read this before, but was interrupted. Three is a charm!

I like the feel of innocence and the reference to the bursting flavor of cherries, like blushes flushing pleasure in one's being. Such magic there is in the foolishness and the beginnings. Seems the heart just grows stronger in the process and no matter how old one becomes, the rainbows beckon and I can't help wishing the bride here, the entire spectrum of love and a treasure worth more than any pot of gold could ever hold.

This was sweet Tomis, with your eye keen to light and wisdom, too. I'm thinking she loved this.

First, the person I am writing about is such a collection of contradictions on the surface. Underneath, spiritually, clear as gold. Wanted to capture that as much as possible in the poem while telling the story from birth to marriage. It appears that in many ways I succeeded. Yes, may her marriage be a wonderfull success.

Yea, she loved it. Her review is on the list below.

      Love, Tom B.

Glad you enjoyed my little tale. Broke it into chapters to ease the length. used a ballad style to allow for interior rhymes and dance the magic.
      Thanks for enjoying it.

you know, I don't think I always see it, cause it is so obvious to me. If that makes sense. I feel the hurt, I know the pain, but I also understand how to create the blessings. I forget that most arenot wired that way. Besides, I am a stand that people do not belittle themselves.

Not too long at all... I wanted it to go on and on (and I rarely say that about long writes)

You have this way of reaching into someone's mind and plucking out their very insecurities to pen them in a way that makes them see beyond.
Your words are so uplifting and personal for me and I truly am touched. You are one of the sweetest souls I've come across and I'm so grateful for that.

Thank you so very very much Tom

    Love, Shari

Such a compliment. I guess I am the court room bard then. Or perhaps in the way I read souls and sing the song the bring them strong to their heart's joy and their souls strength, I should be a wizard who sits in the back of the room. There I sit to keep watch that people mind their P's & Q's or meet their doom Don't ever forget, I know you are one of the best.
      Love,
      Tom B.
