The Genes I Wear

Didn’t know myself for 20 years;
an ad in the paper showed me the way.
His lips and smile shaped like mine,
and her blonde hair a mirror image.
Had wondered about my curved fingernails,
until I saw the matriarch of the family.
Short and dumpy in stature, I cursed them all.
but I now finally know whose genes I wear.

Author notes

This is about being adopted and finding my biological family when I was 21.
