From One Dying

Death is one step behind me,
  as in days before.
It is a truth I can see.
I cannot ignore.

Yet my breath is in God’s keep.
It is He who sustains me.
I am safe, even in sleep.
My state is ever carefree.

Covered in blood is my lot,
  the blood is not mine.
Accursed I was, now I’m not.
I’m in Grace sublime.

The death of His life
  was the knife against sin.
I was drawn to His life
  to die with Him.

I rose from the dead,
  feeding on my Jesus,
      my living Bread.
Through Him, God will meet us.

Death’s now the servant
  of Jesus the Lord,
to take me where He went,
        to my Adored.

Now this life, through death,
  is what defines me.
His life, my Breath,
  is now what I see.

See the Life through death,
  through His, then your own.
Make Him your saving Breath
and make His Life be known.

We will die in coming days.
The ratio is one for one.
So let the Lord be your praise,
  and then kiss the Son.

Author notes

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."--Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)

Here is fact: Death's a reality.

Believers of Jesus should be able to talk about death. If one does not want to listen that is their prerogative.

Many do not want to face the fact of death so they put on spiritual rose-colored glasses, like reincarnation (which is originally the concept of a curse) or say that we cease to exist upon dying. Even many of our movies display the dying as those to go to some fantastic heaven that is contrary to scripture: if you die you simply go there, regardless of what you have done, unless you are a mass-murderer.

All die. Not all will go to heaven, unless one submits to the Gospel of Christ.

Death is not the ultimate tragedy. The tragedy would be to die without Jesus as one's Lord.

Note to the Christians: Notice I did not put "Savior" in that last sentence. If He is your Lord, He is your Savior. One cannot have one without the other.

Yet death is used by the Lord to make us be serious about the life we have left, just as it will be used to bring us to Him, to deal with us according to His justice and His Judge, Jesus.

If one is really ready to die, surrendering to the Judge, one is ready to live by dying daily for Christ and His Father.

Think about it...

Very strong, brave and bold. This speaks of things which many have been taught to be uncomfortable with, and must relearn to recognzie through their rebirth in Jesus. To be wrapped in loving arms, unconditional acceptance, peace, what could keep those who belong to Jesus from preparing for such a thing? And still loving life. Very inspiring piece.

To not have a redemptive relationship with Jesus is to have reason to be uncomfortable with death.

You may find it interesting that it was because of Christian funerals in the first century that the body's face was available for viewing. Up to that time the deceased face (in this case, a non-Christian) was not shown. Christian deceased would have a peaceful expression, which edified those in the church.

      With sorrow for your loss...

Of course we know the great tragedy would not be in dying young, but dying at all apart from God's grace through His Son.

To Him be the glory, and peace to you and your nephew's family.

      God bless...

Your poem asks us to step up and proclaim your freedom from evil's grip and celebrate your benevolence with God and all that’s good with life. Your words are clean and your thoughts are pure...rise as an example of what you stand for and take a bow.

  • Bravo!

When we are alive in Him we are dead to sin. As Paul [Saul] said I die daily ~ Hopefully you will encourage some to read The Word of The Bible themselves so they may have understanding of what you've written here. Unfortunately ppl don't want to hear or know the Truth so they can live in their sin which only brings death. Come Master come & restore Your Truth to this dying world!
Keep on keeping on in His faith.
