As I sit here, watching the smoke plumes
Drift upwards twisting shapes in the air
With an odd grace and intrigue contradictory
To the effect it has on the recipient, I wonder,
About you, about us, about all the things we've said,
All the promises we've made and how in a different life,
We would have undoubtedly been Ceaser and Cleopatra,
Romeo and Juliet, Nerrisa and Gratiano.
"There was once a time when our love could
Blind the sun" you muse, but my argument to you
My dear is at what point did it stop? For deep within
Our souls, you surely cannot tell me that such passion and fury
Merely burnt out leaving smouldering embers and ashes,
I think not my lady love, you simply cannot tame the lion
Which roars so furiously at the thought it may one day be captive.
No my dear, my darling, my essence,
They say love is but the one thing that can
Pass the test of time, it has no finite ending,
It does not suffer the decay of erosion or the
Eventuality of death, affection may come and go,
But love, love is something supernatural, it has no limits,
No predefined bounds, it does not obey the command of
Any master and will not be silenced by any means... it lives.
I think I shall, no, indeed I shall let this serve
As a memoir so to speak, a testament to all the things
I've never said aloud, that i've screamed all too quietly.
I'll whisper them to the winds and allow them to carry over
Valleys and rivers, mountains and icecaps, I'll let nature be
It's preserver, so that while my body grows old and withers,
The sentiment shall remain eternal.
There are no ashes from which this phoenix shall be reborn,
Simply, ultimately, consequently, of a fire, which cannot be extinguished.

beautiful
This was wonderfully written. Definitely very descriptive and detailed. Awesome piece of work, that indulged me line after line. Your talent like the love you wrote about is boundless- continue, to love, and continue to write, so that others like me can fall in love with writing as you have done, so effectively. -
This really is beautifully written Phil. It's pieces like this that really make me want to write, make me wish (that's not even a strong enough word) I could even write this well when I do manage to put pen to paper. It's also pieces like this that bring tears to my eyes - damn you!
