So

Missing image

If only we could see that life...

is not about our flesh but our spirit.

Not about who we make love to...

but to who we have loved.

If only for a moment we could

change the face of hatred

and replace it with compassion.

Then we can begin to understand life.

New write - THE GREAT NOWHERE...Prompt: Meditation
Nomination for the contest - http://allpoetry.com/poem/4070427 - Individuality.

5. Peace on earth(between all species and all kinds) prompt

When times family and friends have presented themselves

As different from the rest...it is I who say - "So your telling me you like broccoli and so ,,, if I do not like broccoli - whats the difference?"

It is your preference only and does not change the person the family member, they remain the same individual - just expressing a different preference in life. Which is that a tolerance? I think not.

This is a simple, short and beautiful poem with a strong message. It reminds me a bit of the wisdom of the Dalai Lama, the way he speaks of the importance of compassion. Constructively I would say that the punctuation seems a little odd. It looks like you have used the dotts to underline each sentence, but you need to trust that each sentence is so powerful in it self that it doesn't need anything more. If you use just full stops and commas where they should be, I think it will have a better first impression.

Remember to write the name of your new write in your author's note and to nominate one of the other poems before the contest closes.

Thank you for the comments and still allowing a place in the HM 's for me.

  • Very profound message.

    • Thank you very much for reading "SO"

When faced with loved ones ...sharing information with you - with searching eyes and wandering hearts. It makes you think ...do we stop loving our family because they have a different way of living their own life. I wish we could pass the message around ...to stop the hate.
Thank you for your comment it means alot to me.

  • Ughh..I love this one.

I am honored that you commented and with such emotion - it almost made me cry.
Wouldn't it be a grand world if we could all set our difference as positives - instead of negatives.

The section of the universe containing our solar system is rising from a decline of energy (while this world's systems are in decline) that allowed the weak force of gravity to dominate life. The entire standard model of science is based on it, while there are forces that are 10^15 times stronger totally ignored by traditional science. Assumptions are always based on observations, which accounts for the current misconceptions. It is of course not just limited to science, but life in all its aspects is affected by it. Our feelings and thoughts are all shaped by the lack of energy. But things are going to change. Drastically and soon. On winter solstice 2012 earth, the moon, the sun, Jupiter and Mars will be aligned with the center of the universe; a unique situation for the celestial systems involved. It will have great effect on the electro-magnetic fields influencing life on earth. These are the type of waves currently used to measure brain activity in an MRI scan for instance. But such processes always work in two directions - the waves influence the brain activity as well if strong enough. Not just our brains will be affected but the entire ecological system of our solar system. Perhaps at that time the true and intense words in your poem will be understood. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care.

I am honored that you feel this way, Thank you for Reading me and commenting.

With the grander point of view...in the grand scheme of life...why indeed do we humans create such strife? Thank you again for your poignant comment. With that being said - the depth of your response was most welcomed by me. I found it intellectually stimulating thank you.

      Sincerely,
      Cheryl

      Thank you Kind Sir

My Sweet Nephew chose me to share his life choices with when he was so young. I realized then that he had not transformed but had simply expressed a preference. He was my inspiration - then later my eldest Grandson. The way we act or re-act can temper the situation.
I am proud that you took the time to read me you have overwhelmed me with kindness.
      Respectfully yours, Cheryl

  • yes your right, but not everyone has the same outlook on their life and try to impose their will on you, if only we could be kind to one another and live in harmony, what a lovely world that would be. i like the picture of your cat, he looks very huggable, and your words made me reflect on our spiritual well being.
