a table's beginnings

gretchen lost herself in the forest
and grew into a tree--

arms metamorphosed
into wood,

her fallen branches
work to frame
one last attempt at a
masterpiece

You have quite a unique take on the photo prompt. There's a lot packed into such a little poem. It's almost like a little fable of sorts. Thank you for your entry.

I'm not sure if you were going for this, but this poem made me chuckle. It has a dark sort of humor to it, but it also tells a wonderful little story in less than 10 lines. Very fun to read (which I've already done several times) and I wish you the best of luck in the contest.
