Pieces

As my life crumbles into pieces,
I watch them scatter around my feet,
wondering if I will ever be able
to make myself whole again.

I stare out into the abyss
of what once had meaning.
A future, a dream it seems
I'll never reach.

Staring out into the darkness
forcing light into this world,
wondering if it's a task
that can be done.

Feeling inadequate.
Feeling lonely.
Feeling like there's nothing
that can be done.

I have a resolution.
I have a prayer.
I hope that my life
is going somewhere.

But my life crumbles into pieces.
I watch them scatter around my feet,
wondering if I will ever be able
to make myself whole again.
