There's a person inside of me
Lost contact with for years
Listening to her soul
She is weeping
She says she feels I'm lost
Losing myself to the excecutioners in humanity
Becoming that person I used to hate
Losing my own soul in the depths of hades
Unable to be found
She whispers "You're drowning
You're dying. What happened to you?"
How can that be answered?
I ignore her pleas
Continue changing for the worse
She says she doesn't know me
I hide who I am
Caring too much about the universal "them"
The ones who my life is molded after
Never noting the differences that "they" see
Regardless of who I pretend I am
The child whispers "I miss you. Come back. I want to play more!"
I still ignore her
Who is she anyway?
An immature child?
She still sees that the wind carries a song
She still believes in all things good
She still believes in fairytale endings
She still sees the good in mankind
Why can't I?
No more songs flow out of my mouth on the way to school
No more humming waiting for my friends to meet me
No more skipping down the street
The girl whispers again
"It's not too late to come back"
I heed her warnings
Open myself up
And just breathe

You need a title?
It reminds me of that song (I think it's by Faith Hill) "If you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance" -That's sort of what I took from it "I hope you dance". A very excellent compilation, very nicely done. I'm thinking that regardless is spelled wrong...but it works the way you spelled it, sort of a play on words.
