Once our school took us to the open air zoo,
To explore the wildlife and have fun too.
The huge hippo that caught my attention
His barrel shaped body not to mention
He had a vicious grunt and struggled to veer
As if he was stuck on the first gear
He was reposing in the muddy muck
His fixed gaze made me nervous and awestruck.
I started retreating away from the rim of brook
The teacher read my queasiness like a book
She came to me and politely said,
“why don’t you stand behind him instead?”
Though the bottom is not a pretty sight
But at least the bottom end won’t bite.
My wobbly move made me slide into the mushy mud
The Hippo got scared by the sound of thud,
and as he glanced at the object marinated in clay
He grunted, grumled and cowardly ran away.
