Goknil

Goknil lived near
Sinop's Black Sea shores,
her eyes, smile spoke volumes ~
much more
  than her broken English...

For a moment in time,
communication needed few words

...and no translation.

Author notes

"Lost In Translation"
30 Words or less.

Goknil was a young woman I met while stationed in Sinop, Turkey; I was 20, she was 17. Call it a teenage summer romance, 'cept way on the other side of the world! This is just a li'l tribute to the memory.

What a wonderful memory...It's a treasure to cherish. I guess if people talked less there would be more romance lol. Just a thought...
I can see why you loved her.

      Hi Sweetie ~

In all reality, it was more of an infatuation thing...Per thier customs, dating was not like Euro-Americans: no kissing, no real public displays, and, to my recollection, we didn't even hold hands. Much of the time we spent listening to music (she liked English pop/rock) & talked about our two worlds. It was a fun period, but no, I didn't love her...
