Hope
tracing her cool fingers
along my skin
trusting
always

Yes, yes...

some folks say
hope will always return
to her creator’s source –
love
and I know this is true
for I have caroused the philosophies
of this life with diverse faith

Faith in closeness
Faith in intimacy
Faith in the incredible lightness
of being

And in the most
astonishing spaces
I find the triad
in love
binding and securing
the union of all things
a cry in the darkness
the bright spark of life

In the awareness of suffering -

in the bleak hour before dawn

the caged butterfly is set free

Hope

Faith

Love

Author notes

The power of love is in hope. By hoping we expect reward for love.
Faith is a star with unsullied ray.
What would happen if there was no hope?
Would there be the awareness of suffering at all?

I really wrote this as a 'centered' piece,
which I think works better. But never one to break the rules...

Your chosen elements are spelled out for us more than once here but in a natural tone and interesting format. It is difficult to take such subjects so common to all of art and present them in a fashion as to make them impact, but here this is what I find and I am thrilled with the read.

How I loved that line ...

I would love to see this piece centered at the contest finish as I am a firm believer that shape makes a difference in poetry and its presentation.

Your title is excellent for the intimacy of the piece written. You have taken the prompt to human eyes where belief can be seen and felt by the ordinary, making it extraordinary.

Exceptional work. I loved this poem. Best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela

And the greatest of these is love.

I would respectfully disagree . . . hope is an expression of love and the power of faith is love. The power of love is in it's sacrifices, both great and small. We will suffer through almost anything for love.

    Excellent write. Very thought provoking.

lovely write and enjoyed your notes and question pondered. takes me back to when I first discovered Nietsche probably 13 or 14 years old and chewing on the geneology of morals and beyond good and evil. That whole divine epiphany of seeing that one can not exist without the other, almost to a point of banality. Birthing the hope but almost killing it in the same stroke. Tis beautiful the shimmer of bend in the mobius
    in the question mark
    in spark of the arc
that got devoured by the lush lips of time
