Reaching for stars
through tears and smiles,
has brought me years
and many miles
from my childhood,
stormy and fierce
and with bittersweet memories,
broken and pierced.
But through the mirror
I can see
a whole new world,
waiting for me.
through tears and smiles,
has brought me years
and many miles
from my childhood,
stormy and fierce
and with bittersweet memories,
broken and pierced.
But through the mirror
I can see
a whole new world,
waiting for me.
Author notes
I grew up with an alcoholic, an abusive Grandmother and a shining sister. But I don't - didn't feel sorry for myself. I knew what I was capable of in the future, where you get to make your own decisions. But writing down those old thoughts were very cathartic, indeed.

I've never heard of an abusive grandmother before. Horrible image. My grandmother is racist, but not abusive. She wouldn't be able to abuse me, but I don't think she would want toanyway.
Great poem. Well written, nice happy ending.
I've read so many poems today. Started off just killing the time while I was bored working in the shop, but then I just started to enjoy it, and read lots and lots. I'm still enjoying it, but also getting a little tired. I hope you have more awesome poems for me

To combat through the tears and still live for your dreams is an inspiration.
I adore this penning, such beautiful images and heart felt thoughts.
Be blessed in all you ever do.

Genuine stroke of genius.
Concise, but just enough to get the point across. These words tell me that you haved lived a life and learned from it in the process. Straight from the heart poem that touched my heart also. I loved it.
