Oh No !!

Missing image
I told them I wanted a puppy,
one that would wiggle and lick.
A cute little mutt of a puppy,
one that will fetch me a stick.

We can run and romp in the yard,
rolling and tumbling in play.
Charging head on to the enemy,
and storming the castles all day.

That wasn’t asking so much,
and they both told me maybe..
But did I get me a puppy ?
No they gave me a baby.

The baby is so small and helpless,
they didn’t give me a choice to pick.
He may be fun in a year or so,
but right now he can’t fetch a stick.

Ha ha...well this made me laugh !!!!
He probably would love a puppy !!!...right now he may well agree with you...but I'm sure he will find his little brother a lot more fun in a few years, and hopefully have a special bond & friendship in their growing up together.
    Great title and pic.
    Thank you for your entry.

Now, this had me rolling on the floor laughing. I nearly choked on my milk! lol!!!!!!!!!! What a tremendous poem this is and one that deserves a gold in the contest. I just love how you always have something funny to add here and that is what makes my day. The best to you. Super flow, rhythm and rhyme as always.

lol, this reminds me of a cartoon I saw; there were four kids in the background, and the oldest kid is pointing at his pregant mother saying, "this one better be a puppy!" lol, brilliant (your poem, not the cartoon!)
I liked how the last line tied everything together; kinda like the person in the poem is too stubborn to let go of the idea of someone/something fetching a stick for them. Freakin' awesome poem!
Best of luck in your contest!

ah, that's cute. Even if he didn't get the pick of the litter, hopefully he will find having a baby brother even better than having a puppy in the long run.
