I had a thick blue rubber band
that held a deck of cards;
through use it'd gradually expand,
I had a thick blue rubber band.
It stretched out to a thinner strand
until it spanned two yards.
I had a thick blue rubber band
that held a deck of cards.
that held a deck of cards;
through use it'd gradually expand,
I had a thick blue rubber band.
It stretched out to a thinner strand
until it spanned two yards.
I had a thick blue rubber band
that held a deck of cards.
Author notes
This poem is actually a triolet, in case anyone is curious about the form. I wanted something simple, whimsical, but was having trouble finding a topic. I noticed that I was fidgeting with a blue rubber band as I thought, so that's what it's about. Hopefully this little ditty is fun for you, too. (Maybe it just amuses me because I'm overtired writing this late at night...)

I've never read a triolet before, but all the same this is a snazzy piece. Surely this rubber band of yours is magic.

Thanks for the comment; it was actually a lot of fun. If you wanted to you could look it up and give a triolet a try.
