This day I will thank my Savior's love,
This day I will pray your name,
In grateful thanks to God above,
I'm so glad that I came.
This day my hand shall lay upon,
All others with good will.
And be the friend, your counting on,
To stand beside you until
The vanity of errors, that this lifetime somehow find us,
Is no longer smoke and mirrors, but a loving arm around us,
That chase the nameless terrors, always seeking to astound us,

When I read your words
I knew what I had to do
I've been waiting all my life
To meet a man like you
You see, I've never known my father
and you seem like a perfect one
My dad left when I was two
before my life had really begun
I look at you and see
the depth of love in your eyes
I've read it in your son's poems
Your love for him is no disguise
I would like just one day
to know a father's love
Its something I have prayed for
to the big man up above
I would give anything
Just to know what this is like
It's something I have dreamed of
since I was just a little tyke
I have nothing grand to offer you
No promises of a great romance
I am only a girl of fourteen
all I could offer is a dance
A dance of love forgotten
Between a daughter and a father
you would be a perfect substitution
to a dad who never bothered
Please don't think I'm crazy
it's just something I'd like to know
A memory of a wonderful father
to look back on when I'm low
If I could choose my own father
he'd be some one just like you
Your love for your family shows

I know this all sounds crazy

He's taken the place of the man

Since the moment that I met him
He's never let me down

that I've ever had around
When my day seems lonely
I know that he'll be there

He always knows what to say
So I feel he understands
Sometimes his words make me feel

God's way of letting me know
