Our buds of youth are bursting forth
across this verdant land.
yet burgeoning comes not with ease ~
it needs a helping hand.
Then summer blooms with all its splendour,
wisdom yet to gain;
resplendant colours, proud and bright,
no reason to abstain...
The autumn rains fall long and hard,
storms that take their toll;
experience brings strength and burnish,
this, a vital role.
Yet winter comes with aches and pains,
a loss of vital spark;
a closing down, a final act,
so new life can embark...

Seasons used as the passage of life. A good use of metaphor and with a nice rhythmic flow. food for thought for this old codger, too. Well done.

nice job here. thank you for entering. As I've said, I really like seeing how seasons can be used to show aging.

A well-worn theme, but excellently rendered, with good pace and rhyme.

The four seasons exposed in the travel of life is not a new theme. I guess as I grow older that I always listen to writers who express it anyway. If I was going to listen to someone share about the journey of life in seasoned metaphor I would rather hear you tell me about my fate as anyone as you share it so well. I have no happy clappy people left and keep losing points everytime I comment. Let's just leave it at this, I have gained a great appreciation of your writing over the short time we have been friends. I respect you. That says it all. RC

A wonderful trip through the passing of a year Each season shining in its own way I have to disagree though about winter Some of the most spectacular images can be seen when it graces us with frost laden trees and bushes not to mention the clean virgin scene painted by a gentle fall of crisp white snow. Excellent Good luck in the contest

Loved this Metaphor of all the seasons, just how I feel about them too. Winter does do that to bring hope for spring, I can't wait. Well written. Blessings.
