Did ya hear it’s all over town
everyone is barking it up and down
that poodle with her nose in the air
ran off with the brown mutt for a dare
‘tis said she curled more than his tail
turned him into some 'new age male'
got down and dirty on the wrong side of town
now she’s even got that mutt wearing a crown
any day now she is having his puppies
know she’ll make ‘em all into yuppies
talk on the street is about that black poodle
who knows what she has got in her noodle
thought she was too good for us in the park
she will be back just you mark my bark.

mark my bark has to rate as the best ever. And turned him into to some new age male is right up there with it! I would change the one line, now he is a right royal clown. Then you say, "And what my dear expert would you change it with?" I'm thinking, ok. It just didn't seem to carry down stream as well. Sorry. I don't know, it's way late here and I am struggling with it? Somehow that line has to change. At least I know you can't kick me from over the ocean so I am safe. I believe that the line would be better served if it ended in 'crown' since he is a mutt from the wrong side of town. I know you used royal, but somehow it just doesn't get it for me. I didn't come up with a line, so sue me. Anyway, you have the always popular, "Stands as called" line that I always use. However, I will never depart from my belief that crown should end that line. Love ya. RC

This is a wonderful write - clever and skillfully penned with great rhythm! I think you should do well in the contest. Reminds me of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.
