Are you busy? She asked,
Leaning on the doorframe,
I mean can you spare a
Moment of your time? You
See my husband’s away
And I seem to have blocked
The sink and I wondered if
You would be able to…
She paused and gave a small
Smile and opened her eyes
Wide and the young man from
Upstairs on his way out
Stood opened mouthed and gazed
At the woman whose dress
And look and beautiful
Eyes took away his breath
And took him by surprise.
I mean if you haven’t
Time I’ll understand, she
Said, leaning her head to
One side, then nodding back
Behind her, and it won’t
Take long, and I will be
Ever so grateful, and
The young man closed his mouth,
Stared at the fine figure
Of the woman, but then
Remembered the rumours
He’d heard and took flight like
Some frigid frightened bird.

Thank you.
One of lighter poems and I sure need them sometimes to give relief from the dark one. Thank you.
