Fatal Flaw

When I was just a little girl
No nasty boys could touch my world
Went around singing “Girls Rule”
And “Boys Drool” thought I was so very cool

The way it was, not trying to be cruel
Way back then in grade school
Wasn’t much better in Junior High
A late bloomer and that made me cry

Woke up one morning to my surprise
Had a shape and curves couldn’t believe my eyes
Suddenly my dislike for boys was gone
They started to notice me before long

Well, one thing led to another my friend
Then found the meaning of original sin
On that day I did discover
I should have listened to my mother

Now with a little girl of my own
I can’t regret the seeds I’ve sown
I do admit to one fatal flaw
I should have kept to the unwritten law

Girl’s Rules and Boy’s Drools
Cross your legs and stay in school

A very real poem with a touch of humour, yet so much good advice in it. A lesson many should learn without experincing it.

An attempt to send a message that I hope would be well received. In my neighborhood it has become common to see 14 year olds pregnant, grandmothers at 30 years old. Today this is a vicious cycle that continues nation wide. Thank you my friend for the generosity of your comments. God Bless, Jo-Ann
