Summer with my BFF

splashing
to puddles,
5 foot deep, and making tidals
and spring, rolls in, on joyful pollen beads
carried by the giant bumblebees
they string across a necklace full of sun
adding big spoonfuls of fun
sending kids all on the run
that makes up all the memories of summer
that makes up all the sunshines of the summer.
And the cobblestones beneath our feet
were rushing past,
the busy street
and laughs and fun,
and boy-hunting
between the two, us friends
and water waves and octopi
and feta cheese, we learned to fly
well not really cause then we'd die
but I think you get it here
the summers priceless, summers fun
we drill holes in our heads
to let the year's learning undone
snapping all the loose threads
but by the end though memories made
though we had a blast
we want to go home, see our friends
even without first class!

This is absolutely wonderful! (yes, a very difficult time dealing with you being only 13! I was grunting and using crayons to print my name at that age.) You have done what good poets usually try to do: capture a moment in time and make it live once more for the reader. If you keep this up you will have your PhD in English Lit at age 25 and become a tenured professor at an ivy league school by the time you're 31... oh, did I say I loved it? I DO!!!

I'm very flattered! Thank you so much for your comment, this was one of those poems where my brain just kind of thought of it out of nowhere, and i made it up
as I went along. To tell you the truth I wasn't very happy with my poem and marked it off as just some gibberish! I doubt I'll have a PhD at that age but I can try, thanks again for the wonderful comment!
