National Eating Disorder Awareness Week Poem #1

Trapped in a chokehold.
I try to remember how it all started-
The restrictions - as if life
were a game.

Food fights until I gave in.
Then she took over.
She took over my whole living being and soul.

Stomach muscles contracting -
A punch to the stomach.
Head being pushed into the toilet
and I was gone.

Please tell me what you think

Food is the villian. Food is just something you put a bit of in your mouth to make the rumblings go away. This is my thought pattern. Has been for more than 10 years. It is so hard. The more they tell you to eat, the more you know they are watching you, so you don't. Push the food around. Get rid of it later. Order a small salad, no dressing. Live off gum. Thank You for sharing the horror of this. Maybe it can stop at least 1 person.
