Our morning ritual is whoever's
up first feeds the dogs, then
takes them outside to do their
business, then two of them wind
up on my bed, as mom or dad
tries to eat breakfast without
the 'vultures' circling 'round.
It used to be they waited until
they left to put the dogs on my
bed, since then they'd go to sleep -
but knowing there's a chance for
food makes them bounce all over
my bed like Mexican jumping beans.
Hence, here I am, as groggy as ever,
Trying to function now that they've
woken me up, and what do I find?
All my weenie dogs passed out upon
the floor, exhausted by sheer excite-
ment...I'm going to have a talk with
mom and dad; just because they're up
early doesn't mean I have to be up too.
It's not my fault I have later job hours
than they do, for crying out loud!
Author notes
They're not dauschunds, just small terriers - or as we say, 'terrors.'

Could be worse, if my mom wants me or my brother to get up she puts our 80lb great pyreneese puppy in our rooms and shuts the door, not fun to be woken up by a very large dog jumping on you or trying to roll you off the bed so he can lay down. I know your pain though. Thank you for entering my contest and good luck.

Great story, Hon.. I went through the same thing as a girl, but with me it was our boxer, Sam, who always got put in my room when Dad left for work.. Not fair!

hehe terros rather than terriers

I know the feeling, with 3 cats and 2 dogs all having free rein of my room as soon as there awake at 6am they come bounding down the stairs and jumping on my bed waking me up, they dont let me go back to sleep. and even at night they steal my bed so I cant sleep and one of the cats loves my pillow so its all furry when I come to use it.

Very well written and very funny, The affection you have for your animals is clear. I have a cat just like this wakes me up early all the time. The way you describe them is absolutely brilliant I felt like I could see what was going on. The image is brilliant too. Thanks for sharing this : )
