To see her in my dreams,
that golden girl of yesterday
In love now more than thirty years,
I chased her far away
She was only true of heart,
honest, smart, and free
Deserving of so much more than me,
with a lackluster pedigree
Gone she’s been for thirty years,
in my chest there’s still a flame
Through a marriage and relationships,
she still wins my acclaim
I have loved her through the ages,
and I love her ever still
Not deserving of her loyalty,
her thought gives me a thrill
To look into her big brown eyes,
would melt me yet today
An anchor I would have been to her
so I chased her far away
The scar I bear is shattered love,
for I have not been whole
The piece of me she’s kept since then,
has lessened my control
To give my all to anyone,
I’m doomed right from the start
Renea you still hold in your grasp,
a large piece of my heart
