The Same Differences

My steps were like clockwork

as I skipped

down memory lane,

a rutted path

I've taken to often.

And listened to the Mockingbirds

that clung to the trees.

Could their caws

sound more like laughter?

And I remembered

how we forgot each other

on dim summer evenings.

It's so easy to misunderstand

someone so completely like yourself.

Author notes

2.The same passions in man and woman nonetheless differ in tempo; hence man and woman do not cease misunderstanding one another. ~Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil

Biginning with "And I remembered..." really caught me unprepared..Have to say I enjoyed that very much, besides the nice imagery, just lovely poetry to read. Geo
