The shrill chill of winter
~trying to die...
reaches in through the window
arms, of moonlight
She softly watches
~the frigid wind blow
I wait for her inspiration
I reach out, touching its keys~wondering what is left of me
After a day of grind and gray
I try, I try to play
Cold and tired-hands of ice
~her fingers trembling
Just a light stroke
~of brilliance emerges
Feel, girl, feel~that’s all you have to do
Stop thinking so much
Touch and it will speak for you
Fingers softly searching
~as if searching her soul
As I play a light note
~her touch gently intensifies
That note-reminds me of him, then,~another hits
I feel the buzz of the electricity
~beneath my fingertips
Something different appears
~hidden in her strokes
I feel an emotion longing
~breaking free from her fingers
Riddles of notes~fingers touch and float, then,
~the thrust of a chord
I’m not thinking so much anymore
I feel a certain flow
~shes moving with passion
within every note strikes
~a little piece of her
Chord progression
Single notes are tears
Falling individually
Emptying me of fear
I feel her heart beating~
playing a melody
she's driven by it~drowning me in emotion
Spashes of chords
Pin prick notes
I close my eyes now
~fingers doing what they want
Passion plays me
~fevered finger strokes
I've become her canvas
~a blank page for her desire
Tears flow freely
~falling onto my hands
~rolling between my fingers
Slipping off of moving keys
Her dampened fingers
~play with reckless abandon
~through the soft saturation
I play to mend her heart
Lulling pressure
~to a softer melody
Chords fading, ~
notes trickling to an end
I gaze up at her
~no longer a blank page
~but her masterpiece, an emotional odyssey
Condensation from my soul
~resting on my brow
I rest my fingers against the keys
~for now, again, my soul sleeps
