Mouths mimic the sound of thoughts
words stuck in the space
between brain and tongue-
hostage of fear and doubt
Yet, the eyes break the silence
between them with signs from within
And small gestures of hands
tell all what they wished to hide

this is so beautiful...I love this
sometimes there are things that we can't express through words and it's frustrating, the more, when we can't express it even in body language.

-
Okay, so being a man...
I must say that I'm not a fan of meta-messages. I think that body language does tell the tale tell signs of true intent, however, only can this be interpreted by adepts whom have studied psychology and truly devoted time to this art. Not just any woman can utilize such a form of deciphering. I say this because it would appear (at least in my experiences) that many women claim to know what a man truly means, even though he says the exact opposite. I have been a victim of accusations that what I'm saying is not what I really feel, when it was. That is quite frustrating. Anyway, not to ramble...oops too late. I did rather enjoy your poem, and your in-site.

I know what you mean, and yes it is frustrating.
Still, there are many occasions when eyes and even the tone of voice betray words

No, you don't talk a lot. Now your sisters, they talk a lot!

You do talk fast, well, we all do when we have a lot of stuff we want to say. I always had to slow you down to understand you.
My esteemed colleagues have said all that needs to be said, I just came to tell the sister joke.

Simone, a co-worker, says that I'm an express train when talking

I sometimes burn my tongue, like cars burn their tires on the asphalt -

It was fun to listening to you but I never never understood much, not until I slowed you down. lol Sometimes you were fine, plus I learned the accent after a while.

You just get excited that is all, that's an endearing quality actually.

ah, so nice....eyes & body language always say it better than words...
not that we don't try as poets, right? lol...well, i think you did a wonderful job here in conveying your message, beautiful poem..

Words unstuck
make much sense
when assembled
by Gaze

-
I like this alot. You can always find truth in the eyes, directions of gaze. Looking up is retrieving past information, looking down is creating something new, sometimes lies. When eyes meet and hold contact we know what we see inside is true and as always actions speak louder than words.
Nicely done

''Mouths mimic the sound of thoughts
words stuck in the space
between brain and tongue-
hostage of fear and doubt''
Couples don't always say the truth, or know the truth. This I've known, a failing I want to avoid now. We mouth the words, but they aren't the thoughts that are spoken.
"How are you?" "I'm fine"
"Are you ok?" "Yes"
Sounds familiar doesn't it. We've all been there, words that don't match what really needs to be said.
"How are you" "Why should I tell you when you don't really care me?"
"Are you ok?" "I'm not feeling close enough to you to tell you, do you even care?"
Those are the words that really want to be said in that scenario...
In that scenario I just mentioned there is this:
''Yet, the eyes break the silence
between them with signs from within''
In a perfect world there is that. I wouldn't know, I've never been that fortunate to share mutual signs from within. But I have high hopes.
''And small gestures of hands
tell all what they wished to hide''
Of course I worry that a relationship built like that is bound to fail. It's all emotion, no logic. Relationships need both and one with just emotion with die of it's own weight.
It's really quite an excellent poem (who are you? Mariza? Gaze?) which delineates a relationship when words fail, but love prevails.

-
I see this as pointing out the idea of words that hide and silence that reveals, when words do not carry the inner feelings... I like this, there is wonderful depth to this short poem, speaks volumes about silence... PK
