As winter blows
its last cold breath
my heart beats wildly
the brown turns to green,
Like the sands of time
when a few grains left
brings the child out
within me it seems.
Red birds begin
to bid their hellow,
and hummingbirds buzz about
looking for sugar bowls.
The grasshoppers and dragonflies
dance on the wind,
and I toss out wild flowers everywhere
for the new spring to begin.
Oh the spiders begin to dance
upon their webs,
and the new spring frogs
begin to yell.
New baby kittens
scurrying with such glee,
and my moment in heaven
upon my patio swing.
Oh the red whit and blue morning glories
that makes a canopy overhead,
Brings the birds from afar
to enjoy the feed I left.
Then to bathe in the butterfly pond
out in the yard so free,
never even taking a second look at me.
Gods gems I call them ruby's diamonds and pearls,
dancing upon the green leaves as the wind so swirles.
And to sit out on the patio in my swing
with an umbrella to hear heavens song,
such play a person could never do no wrong.
Author notes
This spring will be the most wonderous of all for me for I have been blessed to be able to go outside and truly enjoy it this year.

SO, SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!
There is certainly nothing like a warm spring day as the flowers begin to bloom and the animals come out searching for something to eat after a long, hard winter.

Beautiful! What a wonderfully painted picture! I, too, was elated when snow was gone and the ground no longer permafrost, but alas - my sister's dog that we are dog-sitting is severly allergic to grass!

Oh Patty, your poems are so beautiful. I'm glad this is the first one I've read since I've been back! So lovely, and well penned. I enjoyed reading this, lovely job and such stunning imagery. Spring is well anticipated in Minnesota, as March and even April are still very snowy months! Awesome work!
love always
