Winter interlude

Your hands absorbed the smell of sweet pine’s cone,
your breath stole flows of misty mountain’s breeze,
I watch your gaze upon the cliff’s unpolished might
when light descends upon the hazy trees
and snowy owls await the luck of night
as blankets glitter, snow caresses stone.

I lick away the stars from trembling lips
and hide my face inside the shelter of your palms,
eyes meeting eyes, your lips meet mine in kiss,
I smile to you and chant of love, my private psalms,
your sweetness’ touch is just another term for bliss
and words of love trail heart’s unwritten scripts.

Delightful blend of winter imagery and intimacy, and nice rhymes. This is my favourite line 'and hide my face inside the shelter of your palms'.

    SO LOVELY!!!!

On those cold and windy winter nights just being with your loved one, arms wrapped around each other bringing tender warmth to each other. A lovely winter's night when two spend it this way.

    Exquisite...

    "the shelter of your palms"

"chant of love, my private psalms"

These are some of the finest metaphorical, lyrical & actual examples & descriptions of loves I've yet to read, my dear Friend. How lovely this is. How tender, how very poignant & true to life & love, as well! Simple, yet overflowing with the many complexities of love's branches, extending from the mighty tree, stretching from the soil, reaching for the sky. Glorious penning, Sweetie. Good luck in the contest? Alright...but methinks you have the right idea about LIFE & LOVE, which is, by far, more important & lasting. Wanda

If you meant to put the whole thing in iambic meter, you succeeded. If you wanted just pentameter, you missed a few. I liked it though so it doesn't matter. Nice job.
