Don't stop me now.

It's dark and cold,
This is when I'm out and how I like it,
When it rains it's better,
A rush,
A touch
Like a hold hand on my shoulder,
Caressing my arms,
Helping me forget
That when I stop
It'll all come crashing back.

Hard to breathe,
Sometimes I stop,
But not entirely,
Walk if you have to,
Run if you can,
Punishing
Cold
Long
It makes you forget.

Sky's black,
Dotted with diamonds,
It sparkles down on me
I would stay out here forever,
If I knew how to make it last.

I see things
You may not even dream of
How do you give this up,
No matter how many people tell you
It's dangerous,
You could get hurt,
You don't know who's out there.

Maybe it's horrible
Maybe it's selfish,
But if you came,
If you saw.

If you knew.

Let me forget,
Just for a minute
Just for a while
Don't tell me I'm wrong,
Don't tell me to stop,
Not when it's just me and the stars
And the moon
And my heartbeat
Fast, frenzied.

Let me see the stars.

Author notes

I run at night. As in several times between 12am-5:30. It annoys the people who know - there aren't many of them - but I can't stop.

This is an amazing freewrite. It came across like you meant all the lines to be exactly where they were. It sounded like you've been working on it for a long time. You definitely have mad freewrite skillz.

    My favorite part was:

    "Sky's black,
    Dotted with diamonds,
    It sparkles down on me"

The image you painted was beautiful, and I'm sure everyone who reads this will want to start jogging at night. :] Great job!
