The mangled limbs of an unsuspecting victim coats a cracking intersection.
"Mommy, mommy!"
Alcohol drenched the breath of a killer.
Vibrant red stop lights didn't protain to him.
"You have to drive drunk? You can't wait for the damn light?!"
Sirens pierced the still air.
Pleads escape tear salted lips.
"Stay with us!"
Charged with vehicular manslaughter,
negligant driving,
ceases to be enough.
"I want him burned at the stake.
He took away the one person we can't live without."
Author notes
Ok, so I actually wrote this back in December but decided I would post it anyways.
My best friends mother was killed by a drunk driver while crossing the street. She had the right away. And her son witnessed the whole thing. She was killed a week before christmas.
The guy who killed her basically got a slap on the wrist in my opinion.
A article in our city newspaper was printed about the accident. The sentences in this piece that have qoutation marks around them are the words of my best friends family, that were printed in the news paper.
I only met her mom on 3 occasions but I don't think I have ever cried so much in my life when my bff told me.
What did you think

gave me chills. great write. I love how you... i don't know how to put. When I read it I feel like you have me hovering over the scene & watching it. Holding me back from stopping anything bad happening. Basically you bring it home. Like Bam right to the heart. Especially with the ending.
I hope your friends family is coping alright. It's never easy to lose a loved one. But to see it? Jesus, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
