"The earth is flat,"
he argued,
"and spins in space
like a juggler's plate."
" How can you be so
two dimensional?" she said,
"The earth is like a ball,
spinning on its South Pole.
Spinning so fast that friction,
against the atmosphere,
heats the equator,
forms deserts, mirages and things.
If it was a plate,
it would be too hot,
round the edge,
to hold, silly!"

Wendy Cope, 'He tells her the earth is flat'.

I like the wit and style of this - Wendy would, I feel, approve.

The essence of Wendy has truly been captured here; a simple scene set up and than a massive witty pay off at the end,all well written.Brilliant entry.
