Springtime

Missing image
Spring pokes its head out of the ground
Perhaps it’s time to show itself once more
Rising to meet the sun the flowers found
Instant blooms not there before
New plants of such vibrant colours
Green grass that once was brown I see
That’s been woken from their slumbers
I love the Spring and feel so free
Much more energy to roam
Each day before I head for home.

Hinemoa Giffen Feb 21st 2008

Author notes

The weather changes so much it's hard for the plants to know if it's Spring
Picture was taken at llam Gardens in Botanical Gardens in Christchurch New Zealand.

Oh Hine, sorry I didn't comment here before, somehow I missed the note of this entry
But I must say it's lovely, I so like acrostics, and yours are not only colourful but nicely done.
So much sight and scent here upon your verses, made me smile

A beautiful and refreshing poem, Hinie. It's so smoothly written and easy flowing that I didn't even realize it was an Acrostic until I read it in one of the comments below. You did an excellent job with it

I love the picture you have with the poem, very lovely, the poem and the picture compliment each other.

I wish ou best of luck in the contest

Thankyou Dee, yes, I don't think a lot realized it's an Acrostic an these days the first letter isn't done in bold. I love the picture, it was lovely when we visited the llam gardens in Christchurch.

I was going to do my reply in the form of a haiku using your name but then I remembered, I'm a lousy and lazy poet, lol.

It speaks the beauty of Spring, but more so, of our emotions at the change, at how we feel.

I want to make this spring memorable, just not sure how yet. But that is what I get from this Acrostic, the feeling that I should.

5:30 a.m. here, got any coffee, maybe a doughnut?

I love scones. I don't get them much in Maine but please, send two, plus the coffee. Thanks!

Thankyou Yem for the lovely comment.

No donuts but I made a big batch of scones, shall I send them with the coffee?

Beautiful poem and pic', Hinemoa! I'm sure I would love Spring in New Zealand, too! I recently watched a good movie called "Her Majesty" which was filmed entirely in New Zealand. I loved getting a 'first-hand' look at the 'land down under'!

Best of Luck in the contest!

    Hugs,
    <3 Maureen

Dear Maureen, yes it's a beautiful country known as "The land of the long white cloud" as you can actually see long white clouds in the sky.

The weather's also changed this year
in Christchurch. Though it's Summer here,
all we are getting's rain, rain, rain.
    Although today it's fine again,
    according to the Met forecast
the sunshine isn't going to last.
Tomorrow I may look in vain
for sheilas on the beach domain
for, if it rains again, I fear
there won't be one bikini there
so I can't exercise my wits
by studying the boobs and tits.

I'm pleased you managed to sneak this late entry in B4 the contest closes. Lovely reminder of our visit to Ilam.
    Good luck in the voting.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX, Hugh (R.)

Yes I made it. I had to ring Aunty Joan up and ask her to post it for me as I knew I wouldn't be on until tonight as Heath won't be home until the morning, so Betty let me stay here so I could catch up on the commenting.
      Love you Babe
