Hours long phone calls
Experts at multi-tasking
Texts all day long
It was what caused the giggles and the smiles
People were amazed
And would laugh
At the things I’d be able to do whilst on the phone
All because of the mad phone calls with you
Texting under the desk at school
And waiting for a spare second whilst at work
So you could reply to my text
1-2 minute gaps in between texts
I’m still amazed at how
Just your voice
Could stop the tears from falling
And cause the smile to be so big
People said it was possible
Long distance relationships
“Oh they can work” “it’s up to the people in them”
They used to tell me
Before I knew it
I was in one
And although it was hard, so very hard
I was in love with someone amazing
The train journeys
Money and time
We spent just to see each other at the weekends
Everyone else said was mad, but I believed was worth it
But after a while the once hour long phone calls
Turned into a 5minute maximum phone calls a day
And the texting all day
Turned into the odd reply if you found time
I kind of understand why it had to be this way
Your work was more important than me
But the longer it lasted, the harder it got
Being an hour and half away from you was just too inconvenient
And although at one point I loved you with everything in my heart
The distance between us became too much
And what was once an us
Became just yet another past relationship.
