Young Mike bought a puppy named Gretel
A mischievous mutt in fine fettle,
She chewed all his chairs,
All the treads on the stairs,
Then gnawed off the cord from his kettle.
Devouring his prize-winning cod
Reeled in with his Dad’s antique rod.
She climbed to the place
Where it sat in its case
But left him one eye (which was odd).
Now, Mike was a kind sort of bloke,
Incredibly hard to provoke,
Yet patience was tried
When she chewed off the side
Of his Chippendale made of white oak.
So Mike lashed her up on a leash,
"You've got to stop eating, CAPICHE?!!!"
She curled at his feet
And whimpered so sweet
So he made her a fine Alpo quiche.
Departing, they made for the vet,
Who thoroughly looked at Mike's pet.
With wonder and awe
He went slack in the jaw,
"Well it's something I've never seen yet!"
He cleared a huge lump in his throat
"She has a dog's features and coat,
But every last gene
It's most clearly seen...
Poor Gretel is really a goat!!!"

It's been ages since I read a poem of yours, and coming back was a reminder of what I have been missing. Thanks for the laugh, and as always fine rhythm and rhyme!!

Well remember, this was a conflusion, er, conflaberation, no, a... well, you know... I only wrote half of it... if you're not reading paperparadox's stuff you should be!

I actually did not realize that you had partaken in this one, and was writing to paperparadox about how I had missed reading her poetry. The two of you are some of the finest at both the fine arts of rhyming and meter, and the incredibly difficult art of humor, and the two of you together make a dynamic duo.

Wonderful Collaboration!
This write is flawless, the voices blend into one which is often difficult in a co-write. This Limerick tale is well constructed with the beginning, middle, all the way to the twist in the end! I am bookmarking this one!
Best of luck in the contest!
