Carry Me Back

Carry me back to a gentle  time
when our words did not hold hate;
into a place where your depth of heart
soothed my soul like warm honey on skin,
and back where whispered truths floated
free, and time was not our enemy.

Through eyes squeezed tightly shut,
I try to block the hate I felt from you,
after the choice I made left you without
a heart, and a mind lost to anger and pain.
But, what I really need to know to go on is,
who will forgive whom first for what is gone ?

Author notes

Kim's version, ( which is awesome by the way ),of "Carry Me Back" is a piece that reflects deep and personal emotional pain. It is a statement of that pain but also it is crying out to understand the whys of suicide. I tried to take that hopelessness and give it hope by offering just one thought of redemption.. forgiving those who hurt us.. as He forgives us .. again and again. In most cases of suicide, I do not believe they know what they have done to those around them or the damage they leave behind. I've seen it first hand. Hugs Kim... Debby

This one really touched my heart. Suicide is never a good thing, yet it seems to have become a common thought to so many today. So sad. Very good poem.

    The Beauty of Forgiveness

You have captured it in this gorgeous poem, Sis; and, forgiveness is beautiful for what it does for the one who is forgiving. You and I both know, at close range, the legacy of suicide; in my case, my mother. And, no, the only thing they know is the emotional pain they cannot seem to escape any other way. The shame is that God and Christ could have healed them; but, they didn't know that, either.

This should win GOLD, for it is absolutely perfect! The only suggestion I would make is the second "who" in the last line, should be "whom." If permissible, I'd love to see this piece in next week's TSaS broadcast. You know what to do!

Tons of love & hugs, SisBon

      My Bon

Thank you... in my case, it was my Uncle.. my Mother's brother. It did not stop there. A few years after my Uncle died, his son ,Richard.. my 1st cousin; took his life too. There are three of 5 children left. One died as a child, one committed suicide as an adult.. and the 3 that are left are emotional wrecks. Jim.. his other son, has tried several times to commit suicide. Praise God, He hasn't succeeded. His daughters live with their Mother, my Aunt Lynn.. they are all scarred and they all need Christ. Anyone who would want to commit to praying daily for them
daily, I would so appreciate it. Much love.. love debby
