C.a.V.E.

There are those who will complain
across the world from here to Spain.
Complain About Virtually Everything
with never a thought to what weather brings.

The weather is too cold or it's too hot,
too wet or too dry always what it's not
They're never happy with where they're at.
They just seem to complain about this and that.
Cause the grass is greener on the other side of the fence,
and for this weather they wouldn't give two cents

For me the weather is always just fine
and I'm glad I'm here to see the sun shine.
The snow I welcome as my winter play land
since winter with out snow to me is quite bland.

I love the frost on the trees and the grass
making the landscape look like frosted glass
I appreciate what Mother Nature gives us each day,
sleet and ice and the merry month of May
I love to feel raindrops on my head
since the alternative for me is to wake  up dead

When ever we complain about the weather we get
remember we can always hop on a jet.
Fly to far away places where the weather's just fine,
and yes I'll have some cheese with my whine.
Cause I am tired of this winter and what it brought
here in the Sunshine state where it is always warm
or so I thought...

Author notes

Written with tongue in cheek...Like many of you I am tired of winter and what it did to our plants but still I am glad to be here to enjoy/complain and know that soon now I will get to complain about the heat and humidity...

YOU’RE RIGHT. We still have C.A.V.E. people. I’ve never thought of that. I do remember my Daddy saying “He would gripe if you hung him with a new rope”. Good luck in the contest.

Dear Darlene, I think all of us have C.A.V.E. people, I know the ones who go to Bingo are real doozys and our neighbour down the street, oh my I won't even go there.
We are never satisfied no matter what the weather is like.
Lovely poem Darlene and good luck in the voting.

    Ah, what a poetic rant!
Besides the meaning of the acronym
the title could imply a place to stash the whiners
or to hide away on a whim!

    Great!!!!

    I enjoyed your rant..I mean..your poem!
Well done, Darlene! I like the way you complained about complainers, then became a complainer yourself (with tongue in cheek, of course). We're all such contradictory characters..it's what keeps life interesting..that..and the weather!

Best of Luck in the contest!

LOL, You wrote this about me!!!!!

I whine about the weather all the time. I'd say 300 days out of the year. Too hot, too cold, too much rain, too little, too much snow, too windy. I'm never happy!

But that is what Mainers do.

I almost really did write about you...I changed the second line
from here to Maine' to 'from here to Spain' ...but you know it is cause I like you...we have CAVE people here who complain if the sheriff's helocopter flys over head taking an accident victim to the hospital in Tampa...afraid they will crash in to the house...LOL The complain about virtually everything...so you are not to bad...you only do the weather...and thanks for reading it...

You very right, and yes I complain when it's too cold, warm weather doesn't bother me much, but cold, I just can't be happy when my feet are gelid.
But with all the heat and ice, I'm glad to be alive and feel the temperatures, no matter what they are.
CAVE, so many caveist in the world and surely not complaining only about weather
    Very good poem

A beaut poem Darlene, yes we do whine about the weather, we're never satisfied are we? But like you said,, at least we are alive to enjoy it and that's a good thing. Not too sure what the title means though.
    Good luck. Jen

      Hi Jen,

      C.A.V.E.

Here in Florida where I live we have mostly a county of retired people who have nothing better to do except complain...some one coined the phrase ...CAVE people...meaning to Complain About Virtually Everything...we now refer to them as CAVE people...Thanks for reading and commenting...

Thanks Darlene for explaining about the CAVE people, I understand now and believe me we have plenty of them here too.

    I like it!

I love the acronym of CAVE, and you remind me that this is exactly what I wrote about. When we stop and consider, there is a lot to be grateful for, and each day has its own value. Very nice writing too, Darlene!

    Dear Darlene,

Snow is all very well, as is frost on the grass
but I much prefer Summer and heat
when you see, at the seaside, a nice piece of ass
if you go to the beach for a treat.

It's not that I mind Winter freezes so much
though I do prefer Spring's milder weather
but Summertime's best to see beauty as such
when the lassies leave off all that leather.

But you are quite right about snow, cold and rain
'coz there's nowt we can do which will stop it
and, if you ever catch me complaining again,
I know that, from, you, I'll fair cop it!

A sizzling and salutary entry which deserves a flood of votes from the other contestants. Best of luck.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)
