2020 School Of The Dammed

A time of minds in  reverse,
a place where hell so dispersed.
No teachers just computers and cold rooms,
teachings through ignorance where life is doomed.

Eyes wide shut ears hearing only pain,
in a time where life can never be regained.
Lost memories replaced with pain and greed,
for those addicted and their needs.

Where cutting becomes sheik and in demand
a world of destruction through the child's hands
Self destruct with a short fuse
a world with little or no muse

They walk the halls silence overpowers their being,
eyes looking yet not ever seeing.
They walk the walk of the living dead,
by choice by their own two hands the journey ahead.

Adults pushed aside unless they are the sellers of the day,
the schools have made their own evil ways.
Time stands still where there are minds on hold,
it is the year 2020 where school of the dammed roam.

The human race now thrown into reverse,
lost the very meaning of humanity it couldn't get any worse.
Children losing their minds starting the day they gave them the lead,
for children untaught of humanity now lost and they bleed.

Red they see from self harm they feel dulls the pain,
drugs in time their humanity it takes it all away.
Never to know adulthood for their piers showed them the way,
only with the addiction discipline was never displayed.

2021 children deformed from birth,
tell me in being the one in the lead
this vision before you what is it worth.
You played your only life away,
but left deformed and retarded children in your wake.

Oh I ask this generation are you proud of your deeds,
now the ones who made it past puberty.
Friends gone from suicide and now you stand in horror this day,
with few memories to guide you leaving you without a face.

Look deep in the ghettos and the homeless on the streets,
this will be your own place to live and sleep.
Hollowed eyes and skin and bones but you did it your way,
and when reality comes to call as you were left at hells gate.

Greed and cruelty left unbridaled causes the human race to become cold and indifferent .And the chill of becoming this way is that it always makes a full circle and comes back to those who impose pain upon others they so shall feel this pain in time . To be diciplined and to learn how to be towards others with kindness and love it brings harmony and joy a lesson often neglected by the young thus they themselves never knows the power of it and in time fall themselves to prey of those about them .

Thank you so much for editing and updating! What wonderful, achingly real, dark imagery you have here. It is a very bleak picture you paint, that is sadly something we can all feel too close to home. Very well done, and thank you for entering!

wow, this piece is really intense and sad. It's depressing knowing how bad the world is even now. Being a youth in this world, I strongly hope that I will be able to survive through bad times. Though I haven't been influenced with drugs, (which is a great thing) I know that there are thousands who have and it really kills me. Amazing poem, I just hope it never happens.
