A Dark Haze Lingers

Everything that matters
can be shattered
in one sigh of disappointment,
rendering a heart hopeless
to struggle alone
in silence

knowing pain lays a path through the
threshold of agonies door,
we still walk the walk;
a naïve saunter in sway to a tune
called love

trying desperately to squeeze
the last drop of essence
out of every moment,
with each breath taken
and every dream stolen...
the final devastation storms

lingering through this haze
of hypocrisy;
it takes two
to hope~

  • what a wonderful harvest of thoughts on love and how its precious tendrils can linger in our minds long after it has passed from view and affect the way we relate to others. very good take on the chosen prompt.

    Stunning Poetry

    My friend, this one rips into my own haeart like a dagger. Too many years of hoping for the impossible. Sometimes love gets a hold of you and won't let go. It strangles the life out of you. But we keep trying to break free. Maybe someday, someday soon.
    Thank you for sharing. A wonderful poem!!!!!! Take care.

    Love, Sandy

  • This is truly a very deep and emotional piece of heart, for those many pains endured, one-sided. Powerful penning, sad - and beautiful, nicely done!

    Wonderful

    Your words ring with truth, tender value of love is to be cherished, enjoyed with honesty, life can change in a twinkling, losing what we thought we had. I am reminded of my enemy death, that stalks each one of us, no guaranteed, as to our remaining time of life. No age is safe or sacred, from its greedy visit. Never content as too many die before their time. This write cause me to express my thoughts hidden inside. Thank you.

    Stunning poetry! I agree with the previous comment..I too, love this piece. Especially:

    Everything that matters
    can be shattered
    in one sigh of disappointment,

    Such strong and unfortunately true words.
    I wish you the best of luck.
