Cap’n Queen plundered the Caribbean Sea,
To merchant shipping she was a dire curse,
In her wake no one was left to tell the tale,
Fortunately, she wrote it all down in verse!
They swarmed aboard a ship, knives in their teeth,
“Attach a rope,” she ordered, “so we can tow ’em,”
“Won’t we loot it and burn it?” asked the 1st mate,
“Not now,” said Queen, “I’m busy writing a poem!”
The Marines were sent forth, heavily armed,
But from one wreck to another they were led,
“She’s so elusive!” they cried out in despair,
“If only there was a way to get into her head.”
“I think I’ve got it,” announced one bright lad,
“A trap we’ll set for Queen while we lie in wait,
“She’ll be stuck fast, like a fly in a spider’s web.
“I’m sure it’ll work; I’ve been studying her of late.”
Queen’s crew met no resistance as they seized a ship,
The Chechnya it was called; Queen wrote that down.
“It’s the Marines! Run!” But Queen was frozen in place,
“Nothing rhymes with Chechnya,” she said with a frown.

Author notes
This poem is dedicated to Queen, the best poet I've encountered at All Poetry so far.
FYI: Grozny is the capital city of Chechnya, a small country that gave Russia a good kicking in 1995. They are landlocked, which is probably a good thing. If the Chechens had access to the ocean, they'd be pirates for sure!

I really like this one huni, what made you think of it? I like the change from pirates to the armed forces of the marines, it's a stark contrast. I especially like the way that you combine your own love of poetry into the poem xxx

I was inspired by Queen. And now she's inspired me again! I wrote "Werewolf!" after reading Queen's poem, "Transformation."
