Alone with my moods drinking daydreams
The blues have my mind in a whirl
Johnny Horton sings from the jukebox
"All for the love of a girl."
My thoughts are in a bottle of loneliness
Drowning in the suds of a brew
The mist from the haze of my smoke
Embraces sweet visions of you
In this barroom filled with sad heartaches
I'm feeling alone and forlorn
With whispered memories to haunt me
Until the stars give way to the dawn
Alone with my moods drinking daydreams
Johnny Horton and I seem to swirl
In the midnight hush of the evening
All for the love of a girl.

A wonderrfully melencholy poem. It's sadness felt throughout the lonely barroom. The visuals of wafting smoke and heartbreak making such a realistic scene.
An excellent poem

How I love that song and often listen to it. Johnny Horton, one of my favourites. This was a beautiful and very sad piece that shows such a lonely heart broken soul. I can imagine that barroom filled with smoke and all the people who crave something they are unable to obtain. Excellent flow and rhythm, and the rhyme spot on. You and Johnny Horton I guess sitting by that Jute box ;etting the memories take you back and feeling the sorrow that is left. Adorable piece filled with so much emotion. Love it!

This is sublime. It's cinematic;it's extremely vivid. There are some brilliant lines in the first two stanzas. The tinges of sadness, love and regret are each quite subtle but together they make a full picture.Glad to see you submit something new here!!
